a comprehensive, modular hyprland configuration with automated theme management, dynamic wallpapers, and workflow scripts.
A comprehensive, highly modular configuration for the Hyprland Wayland compositor, engineered to deliver a cohesive, automated, and visually stunning desktop environment complete with dynamic theming and workflow enhancements.
The Motivation
This repository was born out of a desire to replace bulky, fragmented Linux desktop configurations with a unified, automated setup tailored explicitly for daily developer productivity. Rather than painstakingly manual-tweaking individual configs for the compositor, status bar, terminal, and various CLI applications, this project centralizes all components into a single, version-controlled system.
The ultimate goal was to design a personal environment that effortlessly adapts to its spatial visual context, streamlines the mundane workflows, and remains absolutely trivial to replicate or modify across fresh machine installs.
Architecture & Integration
The repository eschews monolithic configurations in favor of meticulously organized component directories and automation scripts that orchestrate Hyprland alongside its ecosystem of tools:
- Theme Orchestration: Custom modular scripts and handlers seamlessly manage theme transitions, media controls, system updates, and desktop notifications.
- Dynamic Context: Wallpaper support (both animated and static) is deeply integrated via tooling like
swwwandwaytrogen. - System-Wide Palette Sync: Leveraging
wallust, the system automatically extracts color schemes from the active wallpaper and instantly applies them across GTK settings, terminals, status bars, and UI components. - Unified Tooling Configs: Best-practice configuration files are maintained centrally for core components such as Hyprland, Waybar, Wofi, Neovim, Zsh/Bash, and Alacritty/Kitty.
- Utility Layer: A suite of custom bash utility scripts handles system maintenance, status reporting, and ensures environment consistency across sessions.
This structure strongly promotes modularity and code reusability, with shell scripting forming an extensible backbone for power users tuning their rice.
Setup Highlights
- Automated Extraction: System-wide color synchronization that reacts to environment changes.
- Adaptive Luminosity: Dynamic wallpaper integration that smartly adjusts UI contrast depending on the image.
- Workflow Automation: Modular script architecture designed specifically to eliminate repetitive tasks.
- Reproducible State: A fully portable, git-tracked environment ensuring a completely reproducible desktop setup from
git cloneto fully running window manager. - Zero Touch Maintenance: Designed to require absolute minimal manual configuration interference once the initial bootstrapping script completes.
